When were the Lens and negatives invented/created? And by who?
I’ve gone through my American School Photography book like 6-8 times and I cant figure this out. I have to list the following items in order and by who were they made/invented/discovered.
1 being: The first one invented
&
5 being: The last
A) First Photograph – I have: Joseph Niépce in 1822 using ‘heliography’
B) Lens – ?
C) Camera – ‘Camera Obscura’ – 1015 to 1021(ish) – by Persian/Arab scientist Abu Ali Al-Hasan (Ibn al-Haitham)
D) Roll Film – Invented by David Houston who sold the patented concepts to George Eastman, of the Eastman Kodak Company, who patented the paper-backed film in… 1884? or 1888?
E) Negative – ?
A) While Niépce was producing images around 1822 they were not permanent, His first permanent image was made in 1826.
B) The camera lens evolved from optical lenses developed for other purposes, and matured with the camera and photographic film. In 1568, a Venetian nobleman, Daniel Barbaro, placed a lens over the hole in a camera box and studied sharpness of image and focus. His first lens was from an old man’s convex spectacles.
C) Probably correct.
D) 1888
E) 1834: Henry Fox Talbot creates permanent (negative) images using paper soaked in silver chloride and fixed with a salt solution. Talbot created positive images by contact printing onto another sheet of paper.
