What supplies do I need for the Nikon D5000?

Okay, so I’m planning on buying the Nikon D5000. I’m really into photography and I really want a nice SLR camera. I don’t want the D40 or D50 or whatever cuz it doesn’t take video. The d90 is way too expensive.
So, I was wondering what supplies I would need for it and where would the BEST place to buy it would be? Like, memory cards and like any extra stuff. I mean, I saw a package on bestbuy.com that had the camera itself, 2 lens’s, and then a case. I think it was AROUND $900. But then I would also need a memory card. and a warranty.
So, where would the best place to buy it would be? What supplies would I need? What is the EXACT memory card I would need.
THANKS!

Before buying any package, make a list of what you needs and see what you can get it for.

My advice, is get the Nikon D5000 Camera w/18-55mm VR Lens for about $685 (see 1st link below) and get any other possible lenses later as you discover from shooting pic and video what you need. The 18-55mm lens is a great general use lens to get started.

You will need a SD or SDHC memory card, Sandisk, Lexar, Kingston, and Transcend are some good brands. I would look at the 8GB and 16GB cards (see 2nd link below).

A 52mm side UV filter for your 18-55mm zoom lens to protect it (see 3rd link below).

You may want an extra battery, I would stick with the name brand battery so that while your under warranty there is risk of losing it because you bought a non-name brand battery.

A small camera bag to protect your camera with lens. Either one of the Tamrac Adventure Holster Zoom Bags (see 4th link) that will hold the camera with a lens or a something a little bigger that can allow the camera plus a few other items like one of the Lowepro Nova bags (see 5th link below).

Hope this helps.
