What is Public Affairs like in the military?
I’m prior service (USMC and ARNG) and I’ve been thinking of joining the Air Force Reserve. There is a PA job open for me if I want it. I think I’ll do it because it sounds like it appeals to my interests but I would appreciate it if anyone in AF public affairs or any service could give me their opinions and experiences with the job. The AFSC is 3N0x1, school at DINFOS. I’m pretty outgoing and enjoy writing, photography and traveling, so I’m very interested. Also, is there a specific AFSC/MOS for combat camera or could anyone in PA end up in that kind of position on a deployment? That’s something I’d be interested in. Thanks!
Most PA’s are in Iraq and Afghanistan now as far as I know. From friends, if you want to know what it’s like, go stand in the middle of a large crowd and attempt to act nice as people get shot around you and shoot at you with sniper rifles. Oh, don’t forget the random people running at you about to blow themselves up.
